Cielo Vista Charter School Alumni Scholarships

The CVC Alumni Scholarships are given by the Cielo Vista Charter School Parent Teacher Group (CVC PTG) to six deserving high school seniors. Four $250 scholarships and two $500 scholarships will be awarded in 2026 . The recipients must have attended Cielo Vista Charter School for at least 3 years and been promoted from 8th grade at CVC. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of community involvement and demonstrated leadership skills. While academic achievement is not a specifi c focus of this award, the recipients must maintain at least a 3.0 high school grade point average. Just as Cielo Vista seeks to give students a well-rounded education, the CVC PTG also seeks to reward well-rounded high school seniors who are able to refl ect on their years at Cielo Vista and demonstrate how that foundational education has impacted them. The scholarships may be used for college, professional training, or other educational pursuits.

Please contact CVC Parent Teacher Group at cielovistacharterptg@gmail.com with any questions.

Deadline: Completed applications must be received by Friday, April 17, 2026 at 5 p.m.

Method of Selection:
The Cielo Vista Charter School PTG Scholarship Committee will consist of five (5) current CVC parents, one (1) current CVC teacher, one (1) current CVC school counselor (or designated CVC administrator), and one (1) non-reading, non-voting chairperson. The committee will conduct blind reviews of the applications; only the chairperson will know the applicants’ names. Parents and teachers cannot be scholarship application reviewers if their child, step-child, or other relative is an applicant. It is acceptable for the chairperson to be related to an applicant because this position is a non-reading, non-voting position.

Each reviewer will rate each application on a scale of 0-40 points. Reviewers will give up to 10
points in each of the following areas:
* Community Involvement
* Essay 1 (Personal Statement must clearly explain 1 educational objective and 1 career objective)
* Essay 2 (CVC Impact)
* Teacher Letter of Recommendation/Character Reference by a Teacher
(Only one will be accepted for review.)

Transcripts will not be reviewed by the committee. The non-voting chairperson will assign
points for unweighted grade point average in the following manner:
* 2.5 – 2.9 = 3 points
* 3.0 – 3.4 = 6 points
* 3.5 – 3.9 = 9 points
* 4.0 = 10 points

In event of a tie, the CVC PTG President (or their designee on the PTG board) will blindly
review the tied applications to determine the scholarship recipient(s).

Procedure for Receiving Scholarship:
All applicants will be notified via email that their applications have been received and reviewed and that recipients have been selected. The recipients will receive a congratulatory letter from the CVC PTG Scholarship Committee and, when possible, be announced at the end of the year awards assemblies.
