Starting in August 2026, PSUSD will implement a new device policy during the school day

We’re taking steps to reduce digital distractions and help scholars stay focused, connected, and engaged at school.

Starting in August 2026, PSUSD will implement a new device policy during the school day as part of California’s Phone-Free School requirements.

The goal is to support stronger academic focus, student well-being, and more meaningful face-to-face connections on campus. The policy applies to cell phones and other personal electronic devices such as smart watches, earbuds, and smart glasses.

• TK–5: No personal device use during the school day, must be off and stored away at all times • 6–12: Devices off and stored during class and passing periods (okay to use at lunch)
