English Language Advisory Council
ELAC (English Learner Advisory Council) Is a group of parents who have children that speak more than one language. This year’s goal is not only to increase membership, but to diversify the group of parents involved. The meetings will be held monthly and will provide opportunities for parents to engage in learning opportunities to better support their children as well as have an opportunity to share their ideas, voice, and concerns.
ResponsibilitiesThe ELAC shall be responsible for the following tasks:
- Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners
- Assisting in the development of the school wide needs assessment.
- Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
- Each ELAC shall have the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).
- Advocate for cultural diversity and inclusion
ELAC (English Learner Advisory Council) Es un grupo de padres que tienen hijos que hablan más de un idioma. El objetivo de este año es no solo aumentar la membresía, sino también diversificar el grupo de padres involucrados. Las reuniones se llevarán a cabo mensualmente y brindarán oportunidades para que los padres participen en oportunidades de aprendizaje para apoyar mejor a sus hijos, así como para tener la oportunidad de compartir sus ideas, voz y preocupaciones.
Responsabilidades El ELAC será responsable de las siguientes tareas:
- Aconsejar al director y personal docente sobre el desarrollo de un plan para aprendices de inglés
- Ayudar con el desarrollo de la encuesta sobre las necesidades de la escuela.
- Maneras de informar a los padres de familia sobre la importancia de la asistencia escolar.
- ​Cada comité ELAC debe tener la oportunidad de elegir al menos un miembro representante al Comité Asesor de Padres de Aprendices de Inglés del Distrito (DELAC, por sus siglas en inglés)
- Abogar por la diversidad cultural y la inclusión
